Dr Ali Asghar is the President of the prestigious Pakistan Endocrine Society. He is Consultant Endocrinologist at Liaquat National Hospital and Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan. He also practices at Medicare Cardiac and General Hospital and Fatimiyah Hospital, Karachi. Dr Ali Asghar graduated from Sindh Medical College, University of Karachi, in 2004. He completed his specialist training in Internal Medicine from the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, in 2011. In the same year, he also became member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom. He completed his clinical fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism from the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, in 2013. In May 2017, he became Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology. In June 2023, he became Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, UK. He attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, London, in August 2025. Dr Asghar is an Executive Member of the Pakistan Endocrine Society. He remained Joint Secretary of the Pakistan Endocrine Society for two terms (2015-17 and 2017-19) and then the Vice-President of the Pakistan Endocrine Society for two terms (2019-21 and 2021-23). In Dec 2023, he was elected as the President-Elect of the Pakistan Endocrine Society. He has also remained a cabinet member of the Pakistan Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He is also an eloquent speaker and has been invited to speak in many scientific conferences. Teaching and training has been his passion all through his career. He is an International EDUCATOR at ASCEND (Academy for Science and Continuing Education in Diabetes), at International Medical Press, United Kingdom. He is doing his utmost in teaching the management of diabetes and endocrine disorders to general practitioners across Pakistan. He is also working hard to educate the general public about diabetes, obesity and other endocrine disorders. He has been invited in multiple radio and television programs on numerous occasions. He also maintains a Facebook page and a YouTube channel with the name “aainpak” to create awareness among the masses.

Dr.Fauzia Rashid graduated from Pakistan in 2000 with the role of honor. She is Consultant endocrine in department of diabetes and endocrinology in Dubai hospital and clinical Associate Professor MBRU ,Dubai ,UAE. She is a clinician-researcher with extensive experience in diabetes, endocrinology, obesity, and metabolic medicine. She has contributed to large population-based studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, clinical guidelines, and consensus statements. She has presented her work at major international conferences, including the IDF, Endocrine Society, and Emirates Diabetes & Endocrine Congress, and remains actively involved in collaborative research networks across the Middle East and beyond.

Dr. Mohamed Hassanein is a Professor of Medicine at Mohamed Bin Rashid University UAE, and a Senior Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes at Dubai Hospital. He previously served as Associate Director for Postgraduate Diabetes Education at Cardiff University, UK. He’s a graduate of Alexandria University, Dr. Hassanein is internationally acclaimed for his pioneering research on diabetes and Ramadan, contributing to landmark ADA, BMJ, Diabetes Canada, and IDF DAR guidelines. With over 110 peer reviewed publications and leadership in major national and international clinical guidelines. He also serves as Associate Editor of the Dubai Diabetes and Endocrinology Journal. Dr. Hassanein is winner of the prestigious 2024 Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Excellence in the 'Medical Innovation' category.

Dr. Farooqi received his Internal Medicine training in New York and then did his Endocrine Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He is US Board Certified both in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology, the American College of Physicians and the Royal College of Physicians, UK. He was also awarded the Fellowship of Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine recently. His passions include teaching. He has won multiple awards for teaching while serving as an Associate Professor at the University of South Florida. He has been a faculty member at Thomas Jefferson University and Harvard Medical School. At present, he is an Adjunct Professor at the Mohammad Bin Rashid University of Health Sciences as well as the Dubai Medical College. Initially he joined the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate in Florida and worked there for a decade as the Medical Director. He established and operated a highly successful Joslin affiliate in Safety Harbor, Florida. In 2008, he led the Joslin team that set up the state-of-the-art Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Dubai Health Authority, now renamed as the Dubai Diabetes Center, one of the largest in the public sector in the UAE, which he stills leads. Dr. Farooqi has been an invited speaker at various Health Forums internationally and has helped design and conduct global diabetes education programs for physicians as a steering committee member. He has published many articles and serves as a reviewer or member of the editorial board of various international journals. Currently he is focused on telehealth using remote patient monitoring technology and clinical decision support systems to provide personalized diabetes management.

Dr Umar Y Raja, (MBBS, BSC (Hons), MRCP (UK), MRCP (Diabetes & Endocrinology), FRCP (London), FACE (US) is a Consultant Endocrinologist based in Pakistan. He trained from west midlands deanery, UK and has a special interest in adolescence diabetes, type 1 Diabetes and emerging diabetes therapies and technology. He works as a Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology at South Warwickshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Warwick UK. He was the lead consultant for Adolescence Diabetes clinic, Young Type 1 Diabetes clinic as well as Community Diabetes project at Warwick before moving to Pakistan to work as Consultant Endocrinologist & head of department at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad, Pakistan. His research work includes prevalence of anemia in Type 2 Diabetes with chronic kidney stage 3, prevalence of undiagnosed diabetes mellitus in patients admitted with acute coronary syndrome, SAFE-PAK study, ERTU-NASH,CONVERGE and EaZe study. He has various research publications, published abstracts & posters in various international journals as well as conferences.

Dr. Alkaabi is a Professor of Medicine at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University and Vice Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Services (2018- to date). Former Acting Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Services (2019-2023). He also has a co-appointment as a Consultant Internist, Endocrinologist at Tawam Hospital and Al-Ain Hospitals. Dr. Alkaabi is the Vice-president of the Emirates Diabetes and Endocrine Society. Founder, Member (2012 to 2019), and Former President of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE)-Gulf Chapter. Prof. Alkaabi obtained his basic medical science degree from the University of St. Andrews Scotland in 1990 and his medical degree from University of Manchester- England in 1993. He subsequently trained in Internal Medicine in the United Kingdom followed by clinical fellowship program in Endocrinology and Metabolism in Canada where he spent two years and a half at the University of Alberta as a clinical fellow at the department of Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Alkaabi’s research interests are in diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, obesity, cardiometabolic diseases, osteoporosis, and Vitamin D deficiency with 189 publications as articles and abstracts. He has various participations at national, regional and international meetings and is an organizer of many scientific conferences and meetings.
